Although usually held on New Year's Eve, this year it's taking place on Sunday, April 17 during the Easter school holidays.
This racing event has proven incredibly popular for a number of years, with huge crowds cheering on as the little pigs race over, behind and through hay stacks and obstacles to find a bowl of sweetened milk.
Pigs are auctioned prior to each race, with the "owners" of the winning pig taking home half of the prize pool.
The other half goes towards community projects supported by the Tathra Lions Club.
In previous years, the many thousands of dollars raised have helped the Lions with projects including upgrades to the town's war memorial, the public exercise park, and support for carers accommodation at the South East Regional Hospital.
This year they have something different in mind.
"Funds raised at the pig races are usually spent on local community projects, but this year we feel that our Northern River communities are in desperate need of our help," Tathra Lions spokesman Rex Kermode said.
"This year we are hoping for a record turn up at the races, so we can send all profits to Lions Clubs in these flood ravaged communities in the north of our state for distribution to those in most need."
The expected contribution is bound to be a valuable one to support those devastated by the floods.
The last time the Tathra Pig Day Out was able to be held - New Year's Eve 2019 - there were more than 1400 paying adults through the gate at $10 a head. That plus half the pot from each race auction went back into the community projects (the average price paid for each pig was about $400, so $3200 per race).
Mr Kermode said everyone's support in heading to the Pig Day Out meant a fun family day out, but a whole lot more to people who have lost homes and their possessions in the devastating floods.
"I would like to thank Kerry and Greg McKay from Big 4 Tathra Beach for being the major sponsor of this great event," he said.
"The holiday parks have done it tough, and no more than Greg and Kerry who lost their home in the 2018 Tathra bushfires, and have had to deal with the 2019 bushfire threats and two years of COVID.
"We depend on support from local businesses, and this major sponsorship from Tathra's Big 4 Holiday Park, means a lot to us in running an event like this.
"The event is as much about showing visitors and holiday makers to our town a great time, as it is about raising much needed funds for communities in need."
This event is run by Tathra Lions Club and supported by Tathra Sunshine Club Boardriders.
Along with a market day, food and wine, jumping castles and children's activities - it will be a fun way for your family to enjoy the holidays. Entry is $10 for adults and children are free.
If you need mobility parking or have an Accessible Parking Permit, just drive up to the entry and the attendants will look after you. The event will also acknowledge Companion Card Passes.
Gates will open at the Tathra Beach Country Club at 11am, with the first of six races at noon.
