Step into a store where you can find unique and beautiful items that will last you a lifetime. The Mossy Store is the retail venture of tree-changers Genevieve Furzer and Simon Kenny. They saw their move from Sydney to the country as an opportunity to use their creative backgrounds in a new way. “Gen has a great eye for curation and I’ve made furniture for family and friends for years,” Mr Kenny said. When the space on Argyle Street, Moss Vale, became available, they created a pared-back shop to make their handmade and unique items shine. “Every item has a story, and we looked closely at each maker to ensure their business had the highest levels of sustainability and quality,” Ms Furzer said. The store holds items from Highlands makers, as well as Australian and international designers. You will find jewellery inspired by the constellations, candles made from eco-soy, eco-resin rings, pieces from the Tjanpi weavers collective set up recently in Central Australia, and wooden furniture made by Mr Kenny. Ms Furzer said they wanted to create a space where people could buy everyday needs that would last forever. “These items won’t end up in landfill, as they are well-designed and made to last,” she said. “I wanted to make sure everything here followed the ethos for living a fuller life with less.” The Mossy Store is located at 394 Argyle Street, Moss Vale, and is currently open seven days.
