Pambula and Tathra SLS clubs will be taking part in the 24-hour row for mental health along with 40 other surf clubs, to raise funds towards Australian mental fitness charity Gotcha4Life.
Pambula's focus while raising funds this year will be on equipping the next generation with the tools required to deal with adversity in their lives.
"I'm quite strong about mental health, especially for our younger generation in the area," Pambula Surf Boat Captain Kirsty Byrne said.
"Just with the COVID restrictions and everything, I feel like they've missed out on a lot."
Ms Byrne said anyone attending the event can have a go at rowing, whether they're a rower or not.
"It's a good way to get the community together, and just have a bit of fun and exercise at the same time," she said.
This will be the fourth year the event has been running, but for Pambula, the most southern surf club in NSW, it will be their first event.
The Pambula SLSC has almost reached its $2000 fundraising target for the row already, currently sitting at $1470.
"I initially just put down $2000, because I didn't really know how we'd go, but I think we'll definitely exceed that," Ms Byrne said.
The rowing will kick off Saturday, October 30, at midday and teams will take turns of rowing on four rowing machines in the Pambula Surf Life Saving Club.
Ms Byrne said they've currently got 40 people rostered to row during the 24-hour cycle and the whole event will be live streamed.
"Some people are happy to row for an hour and some people might have a team of two. They might do 10 minutes on, and then the other person will jump on, so they'll just rotate," she said.
Members of community welcome to take part
Of the 40 people who have signed up for the row, the majority are surf club members, however any vaccinated persons are welcome to join in.
"The community is invited to come down, you just have to fill out a waiver if you're not a member of the surf club," Ms Byrne said.
Ms Byrne said owner of Epic Fitness Studio in Pambula, Lauren Wilson, will be bringing down a team to row for a couple of hours.
