There is no date set for the meeting at this stage although opponents of the demolition had hoped the meeting could be held in the Bega Valley to give the Planning Panel members a chance to review the DA in the context of the local environment and surrounds.
The news of the public meeting follows an online briefing between panel members, including chair Gordon Kirkby, council staff and Department of Planning, Industry and Environment staff.
The briefing covered a number of items including:
- Heritage impacts - proposed demolition of the building and the impact of the development on the surrounding conservation area and streetscape character.
- Truck access, manoeuvering and loading arrangements. Transport for NSW objection to access for heavy vehicles from Quondolo Street, and alternative access arrangements now being considered from Merimbola Street.
- Flooding and drainage impacts, in particular potential flooding in car park areas.
- Landscaping.
- Impact of the development on electricity infrastructure in Quondolo Street.
- Nature and extent of boundary fencing, visual and heritage impacts.
