On Tuesday, June 9 members of the Merimbula RFS were delighted to welcome members of Merimbula Rotary Club for the official handover of a new purpose-built trailer firefighting unit for the brigade.

Captain Alex Lennard said that Merimbula Rotary had been extremely generous to the brigade over the years and the new firefighting unit would be of benefit to the community.
"This versatile unit will be used for many important community based activities such as assisting in pile burns and asset protection," Captain Lennard said.
During a demonstration on the night Captain Lennard said it was a "a superb and useful asset".
"We can't thank Rotary Merimbula enough for their continued support of the Merimbula Rural Fire Brigade and for the protection of our community," he added.
