A 45-year-old Denhams Beach man has been charged with detaining a woman and her child in a car at Batemans Bay.

At about 8.30pm on Friday, January 22, police said a woman was exiting a carpark on Orient Street, Batemans Bay, with her six-year-old child, when a man allegedly approached the vehicle.
Police have been told the man, who was not known to the woman, entered the car and demanded to be driven to a licensed premise at Catalina.
"The woman complied and drove the man to the club, before being told to drive to a service station and fill the car with petrol," a police spokesperson said.
"As the man exited the vehicle to get petrol, the woman drove off and contacted police."
South Coast Police located the 45-year-old man at a home in Catalina.
He was arrested and taken to Batemans Bay Police Station. Police said he was charged with two counts of take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage, common assault, and two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm.
Court proceedings continue.
