Bill Deveril who with his son runs several businesses from Mitchies Jetty said there had been a massive movement of sand.

"We've been gob-smacked by it, and we talk about it every day but that's nature," Mr Deveril said.

On Main Beach there has been further erosion of the beach which has been responsible for changing the location and depth of the channel and increasing the size of the bar. But Mr Deveril believes it will eventually return to how it was. In the meantime though, some walkways through to Main Beach are closed due to the destruction.
