There had been some questions over re-opening of clubs following the announcement by the NSW Government that venues could have up to 50 patrons. Some clubs were hesitant given the numbers and the amount of work that would be needed to prepare and operate venues under the safe hygiene and social distancing rules.
However clubs will be allowed to have up to a maximum of 200 people on the premises at any one time but with no more than 50 in any one area. It means that the clubs with several large areas will be able to accommodate up to 200 people if they are split into four areas.
Social distancing rules will apply of one person per 4sqm with 1.5m between individuals. This does not apply to families or those who live in the same household.
Patrons will be able to have a drink and dine at the clubs but cannot walk around and mingle with patrons at other tables, according to guidelines which have been issued by the government.
In welcoming the move CEO of Club Sapphire Damien Foley said that while it won't be the normal situation members are used to, staff were really excited about opening the club again.
"I know the town wants the club open and I can't wait for the club to be open next week," Mr Foley said after just announcing the re-opening on Thursday, May 28.
Only one door, the rear entry from the car park, will be open at Club Sapphire so that numbers can be monitored, Everyone will have their temperature taken at the door and will need to sign in, even though they are members.
Mr Foley said it would be challenging and asked for everyone's patience and understanding as staff must ensure the health rules were strictly adhered to by everyone.
