On Saturday, July 27 Wires Far South Coast and Wildlife Rescue South Coast joined together to rescue an old female eastern grey kangaroo.

Wires had received calls on numerous occasions about the kangaroo as she was eating and lying beside the edge of Arthur Kaine Drive, Pambula.
The road which leads to Merimbula Airport and Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club often has fast moving traffic and there were concerns that there was a high chance of the kangaroo being hit.
Consequently the decision was made to capture and take her to a "retirement" paddock.
Volunteers used a net to stop her from hopping across the road and she was then caught and placed in a large canvas bag.
She is now grazing contently away from the traffic.
