Each year an exhibition and sale of paintings with a jazz theme, is conducted at Sapphire Club, Merimbula to coincide with the festival.
As part of the exhibition the jazz festival committee selects a poster to best reflect the jazz spirit of the festival and one which is used for the following year's jazz festival poster.
The architect of Jazz Art, Paul Dion, said the exhibition encourages the involvement of the broader artistic community of the Bega Valley.
"Each year it is a delight to witness the artistic creativity from our area," Mr Dion said.
Entrants should be 16 years and over and be a resident of the Bega Valley Shire. Artworks will be displayed at the club for a week before the festival. The winner will receive an award of $200 and their work will be used for advertising and promotion of the following year's jazz festival.
This year there will also be a junior Jazz Art exhibition for 15 years and under. All works will be displayed at Twyford Hall, Merimbula during the festival. The delivery date for works is Thursday, June 6 by 9am and the festival runs from Friday, June 7 to Monday, June 10.
Three awards will be presented in the junior exhibition, a gift voucher for $50 from Inkwell Art in Bega and equal second gift vouchers for $25 each from the Hay family and Merimbula Arts Group, both from the Merimbula News Agency, for art products.
The guest judge is local artist Di Tarrant.
Entrants are required to live in the Bega Valley and paintings are to show a jazz theme and be presented ready to be hung, with a frame or some other way of attaching to the wall. Paintings can be for sale if desired.
