The Bega Valley Shire’s official town crier will join town criers from all over the world for a unique Remembrance Day event marking 100 years since the end of World War I.
At 7.05pm at the Merimbula Services Memorial Mr Moyse will perform a specially written proclamation ‘Cry for Peace Around the World’
More than 140 town criers from around the world will join in with the rolling cry as it travels around the globe on November 11 at 7.05pm local time wherever they are located. The proclamation is set to begin in New Zealand.
“I am really honoured to be playing a part of this historical event,” Mr Moyse said.
“There are a number of town criers taking part from all over Australia. This will be a first for the Bega Valley and it’s pretty special for us to be involved.”
Merimbula RSL sub branch president Alan Browning said the RSL was proud to participate in “such an auspicious event”.
