Filming took place on Friday, June 29, where Mr Halmagyi demonstrated a french style dish with Eden’s very own award winning blue mussels.
Mr Halmagyi explains how Eden mussels are blessed with an odd piece of natural geography which is the perfect set up for mussels to be their best.
“Twofold Bay is an interesting place to produce mussels because of the circulating current as opposed to an esturine current – it isn’t just washing in and washing out again,” he said.
“The flow comes in the south end and wraps around the bay, and because it flows in the one direction you end up with mussels that have a lot less iodine in them.
“What that means is that you get sweet, plump, juicy, tasty, incredible mussels that have none of that slightly metallic aftertaste that they can sometimes get.”
The unique nature of Twofold Bay will be exposed on national television tonight (Friday, July 20) with Eden Mussels shareholder Chris Boyton.
“They interviewed Chris on the Sinbad – the processing vessel and asked him some questions about mussels,” Eden Mussels manager Kellie Squire said.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t get to go out to where they were cooking because they did the filming out at the Davidson Whaling Station.”
Ms Squire said it was exciting knowing Mr Halmagyi was going to cook a tasteful dish with their famous mussels.

“We sent him off with a big box of shiny mussels to cook up. It was awesome to meet him, he was a really nice and happy, jovial guy,” she said.
The aquaculture industry is a huge part of the Sapphire Coast, Mr Halmagyi chose to make an essential visit to his dear friends at Tathra Oysters.
“Gary and Sue are some of my oldest and dearest friends so it was an absolute must do to go and hang out with them,” he said.
“Gary is one of the worlds great ambassadors for the idea of good aquaculture, a truly remarkable man whose product is exceptional.”
“His commitment to his craft is second to none – I can’t speak highly enough of him,” Mr Halmagyi said.
