The matter came before council after a request was received from The Retail Group Pty Ltd on behalf of the landowner Merimbula Nominees Pty Ltd.
The request was that Condition 25 of the consent, which centres on the timeframe around the provision of 127 public car parking spaces, be amended to allow the developer an extension of nine months through to November 21, 2018.
Further responses will be sought from the developer on the completion of the development, including the rear service road.

Council has said that further responses will be sought from the developer on the completion of the development, including the rear service road, and another report will be prepared for the May 23 meeting.
Condition 25 specifies a timeframe within which 127 car parking spaces are to be made available on the site of the new Merimbula Woolworths supermarket.
Originally it was estimated car parking would be available within 12 months of commencement of construction however during construction it became clear this timeframe could not be achieved.
Overhead power is set to be relocated along Sapphire Coast Drive in Merimbula to allow the completion of the new access road behind Club Sapphire.
Contractors will be undertaking the relocation work on Thursday, May 17 at the intersection of Main Street and Sapphire Coast Drive. Temporary traffic control measures will be in place, reducing the traffic to a single lane between Main Street and Berrambool Drive and preventing a right turn exit from Main Street.
