Kevin James Burrows, 67, of Millingandi, appeared in Batemans Bay Local Court on the morning of Friday, February 23, 2018.
Burrows, through his defence solicitor, voluntarily consented to the extradition request.
Burrows has been in custody since his arrest under a provisional warrant on November 6, 2017 at a Millingandi retirement village for an alleged child pornography offence in Hedgesville, West Virginia.
US Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force alleged he possessed a large amount of child pornography and issued a warrant for his arrest in 2013.
Magistrate Mark Douglass said Burrows would be committed to prison or released on bail to determine if he would be extradited.
When asked if he understood the proceedings, Burrows replied, “Yes, I do.”
Representatives from the United States and the Australian Attorney General’s office were present.
