However, there’s more on the way.
By Monday, Victorians in the north-east were assessing damage, but remained on their toes as rivers are still on the rise after being slammed by flash flooding and record-breaking rain.
Canberra only copped some of the off-cuts of the storm on Friday which caused some inconveniences across the capital. The ACT SES received 179 call outs between 5pm Friday and 6.30pm Saturday, with 24 jobs still outstanding on Sunday morning.
As for the Far South Coast, Saturday and Sunday’s combined rainfall according to Weatherzone for Merimbula was 27mm, Bega 36mm and Bombala 8mm.
Bega had temperatures in the high twenties as the rain began to fall on Friday evening. However, temperatures continued to drop across the weekend, Sunday night settled with a chilly 13 degrees.
Unfortunately, bad weather is still on the radar. The Eden coast has been issued with a strong wind and hazardous surf warning for the remainder of Monday and into Tuesday. It has been advised to put coastal activities on hold until the rough weather has cleared.
The NSW SES have also sent out text message alerts to residents in the area, stating that flash flooding and tidal impacts are likely. With more rain still imminent in the area, Flood Watches have been issued for the following rivers and catchments on the South Coast:
- Bega River
- Tuross River
- Moruya and Deua Rivers
- Clyde River
- St Georges Basin
