The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he would share the $1 million prize with his family and travel abroad.
NSW Lotteries made contact with the man on Friday morning, four days after the draw.
“Don’t tell me that, I’ll fall over. Oh my God,” he said.
“I’m a pensioner. I shouldn’t be getting surprises like that. How much is it again?”
The disbelieving winner has been purchasing Lotto tickets since its inception, with his patience finally paying off.
“I’m still shaking. I won’t sleep tonight.”
The registered ticket was purchased from newsXpress Pambula, the first division one winning entry in the five years it’s been owned by Jason and Michelle Buckmaster.
The winner will now devise a plan to spend his winnings.
“At first I’ll put it in the bank and think about it,” he said.
“I’ll share it with my family, they could do with it.
“One thing I’d love to do is a trip to Vietnam. I hear it’s absolutely beautiful and the people are wonderful.”
