Attended by students from Pambula Public School, Merimbula Public School, Lumen Christi Catholic College and Eden Marine High School, there were many reminders from the students of how the tragedy of war affected everyone from the stories of their own families.
The combined schools choir sang several songs and was accompanied by the Sapphire Coast Concert Band.
Merimbula RSL sub-branch president Alan Browning led the service and Lieutenant Jackson Davies of the ADF Academy gave the commemoration address and said the Anzacs would have been the last people to glorify war. Lt Davies spoke of mateship having no limits and asked everyone to remember those currently serving in dangerous and difficult conflicts.
A large number of wreaths were laid before The Ode was read by Mr Browning and sub-branch member Nicholas Hassanoff sounded the Last Post prior to two minutes silence in memory of those who have departed.
