The company said that the device was “prohibited for carriage onboard Regional Express (Rex) flights due to safety concerns”. The ban covers both the original version and the replacement version.
In line with the American Federal Aviation Administration ban on the carriage of the Samsung Galaxy Note7 effective from October 15, and advice from Samsung Australia, Rex issued a directive on October 18, to ban the carriage of these devices on its aircraft.
“These devices must not be carried on board the aircraft at all, be it on the passenger’s person or as part of the passenger’s checked or carry-on baggage,” Rex said.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority has also responded to Rex’s request for clarification by issuing an immediate ban, the company said and passengers are advised not to bring these devices to an airport when travelling as the device cannot travel under any circumstances.
