Merimbula Water Dragons have achieved early success in the dragon boating season after picking up a thrid place at the Nowra Regatta on Sunday, September 18.
Teaming up with members of Narooma Dragons to ensure a full boat, the Merimbula crew participated in three heats.
After a slow start with a fourth place, the crew upped their game and pulled off two consecutive second places; it was enough to push the team into the A Final at the end of the day.
Against strong competition, the Merimbula crew got off to a solid start and held their pace over the approximately 250 metre course.
Just five seconds separated the first placed Canberra Ice Dragons from Merimbula Water Dragons who covered the course in 1 minute 14 seconds.
