A 47-year-old male appeared at Bega Local Court on September 20 charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault.
The Long Beach man is alleged to have struck his 45-year-old ex-wife on her head a number of times with a torch.
The couple’s 19-year-old son intervened, but was also assaulted.
The son then restrained his father while waiting for the police to arrive.
The man was charged with assaulting his ex-wife and son, who were both treated at hospital for their injuries.

About 7.30pm on September 17, police saw a white Mitsubushi sedan travelling at an estimated speed of 40km in a signposted 50km residential area.
The vehicle’s movements were erratic, weaving within lane markings.
Police stopped the 25-year-old male “P” plate driver for a random breath test in Sapphire Coast Drive, Merimbula which returned a positive result and the driver was arrested.
A search of the vehicle by police produced a bow and a black-handled knife. Both items were seized.
The man was taken to Merimbula Police Station and subjected to a breath analysis.
He recorded a special range PCA reading and was charged with drink driving and possessing a knife in a public place.

From September 16-19, police conducted random drug testing between Batemans Bay and Eden.
There were eight people who were tested that returned a positive reading.
Some of the drivers had their licences suspended for 24 hours and the secondary tests have been sent away for analysis.
Locations where positive results were obtained include Eden, Bega and Batemans Bay.

About 12.05am on September 17, a red Subaru Ute was stopped by police on the Princes Hwy, Eden for the purpose of a random alcohol and drug test.
The 60-year-old male was subjected to a breath test result which was negative, but an oral fluid drug test was conducted with a positive reading for methamphetamines.
He was arrested for the purpose of a secondary oral fluid test and taken to Bega Police Station.
This was conducted and the driver was issued a 24-hour suspension notice from driving.
Police will have the secondary sample laboratory tested before further action is taken.

About 2.50pm on September 18, a Commodore sedan was stopped by police on Parker St, Bega for a random breath and drug test.
The 20-year-old driver was subjected to an oral fluid test, which produced a positive detection of methamphetamines.
He was arrested for the purpose of a secondary oral fluid test and taken to the Bega Police Station.
Police will have the sample tested for illicit drugs prior to taking further action.

Police are appealing to the public for any information in relation to 11 thefts that occurred in over the weekend in the Eden area.
The offences occurred in Andrea, Phillipps, View and Bungo Streets between 8pm on September 17 and 8am on September 18.
Mainly unlocked vehicles were entered and a variety of items were stolen that included money, electronic tablets and sunglasses.
Forensic personnel attended these locations for analysis. Police remind people to lock their vehicles and remove valuables.

Batemans Bay Police have taken a report of the theft of pavement tiles from a council construction site in North St, Batemans Bay.
It occurred sometime between 6pm on September 16 and 5.30pm on September 17.
Approximately 100-200 pavement tiles consisting of brown clay pavers as well as granite tiles were stolen.
