Dane Waites has a dream of running 4000km from Perth to Pambula in May 2017 to raise money and awareness for mental health and autism; it’s a dream he’s had for some time and has been in training for 13 years now. More recently his mentor, ultra marathon runner, Pat Farmer has told him to increase his daily run from 35km to 50km.
The launch for Dane’s Dream will take place on August 6 at Oaklands Event Centre, Pambula from 6pm. Dane’s mum, Junee Waites, said it was a major fundraiser that would help get Dane on the road and fulfil his dream. On the evening, a prospectus will be launched offering the chance for everyone to buy a share in the dream.
The evening which has received sponsorship from Oaklands and a number of local businesses, will also include a launch cake, dinner, a raffle and entertainment by Andy O’Donnell and Ricky Bloomfield who will each perform for a segment before performing together.
