The Lumen Christi Open Girls AFL team won the Tracey Mitchell Cup in Moruya, beating Eden in the final held on April 27.
This progressed the team to Canberra to play the winner of the ACT Division, which was played on Friday, May 13.
The girls took on a strong Daramalan team, who were a lot more aggressive than many of the other teams the Lumen girls had competed against.
With some of Lumen’s original team members not available, the skills of Sammie Gaul, Veronica Gromer and Skye Holmes were called upon.
The girls played hard and came back with some great goals in the second and third quarters to close the gap to two points.
A lucky goal to Daramalan in the final quarter saw them take out the game by 8 points.
Congratulations to the girls who showed true sportsmanship and represented Lumen Christi with pride.
Special thanks also goes to water boy Heath Beaumont and the cheer squad… Will and Mr. Beaumont.
