To that end the auxiliary is endeavouring to raise funds to meet the cost of a number of items such as two replacement vital signs monitors as well as sensor plates which provide early warning of patient movement in the case of patients at risk from falls.
Pambula Hospital Auxiliary president, Barbara Davy explained: "Advancing technology takes its toll on equipment in the same way that mobile phones, for example, undergo constant changes and improvements. This is the case with the vital statistics monitors the auxiliary has been asked to replace. Due to improved technology, the old monitors, while still functioning at the moment, have become obsolete. Soon the suppliers will no longer be providing replacement parts and back up service, thus causing the need for this upgrade of equipment at Pambula hospital."
The cost of two basic monitors is $4657.37 each while those with the sensor component are $12,129,21 each. The auxiliary said that it was very grateful for the contribution from Pambula Rotary which would go a long way towards getting the first of the vital signs monitors.
President of Pambula Rotary, Lee Beatty said: "These funds are given to us by the community through donation boxes and markets and now we're giving it back."
