The free CleanOut events will be held in Merimbola Street car park in Pambula on Saturday, July 25, Bega saleyards, Kerrisons Lane on Sunday, July 26 and at Dickinson Park in Lamont Street, Bermagui on Saturday, October 17. Opening times are 8am to 2.30pm.
Council’s manager of waste services, Toby Browne said that asbestos, explosives, clinical waste and radioactive material (except smoke detectors) would not be accepted.
“Along with chemicals, we will be accepting fluorescent globes and tubes, paint and paint related products, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, car batteries and motor oils,” he said.
“Materials should be transported to the CleanOut events in the boot of the car and it’s also important to never mix chemicals as this may produce a dangerous reaction.
“Chemicals should be kept in their original container and they should be clearly labelled and well-sealed. If you do not know what is in the container, then please label it ‘unknown chemical’,” Mr Browne said.
