The News Weekly understands that the new owners, from out of town, purchased the building in 2013 and put in an application for a take away liquor licence.
The building used to house a tile and paint store.
The news follows further changes in the streetscape with the toyshop moving to a new location; the owners opened their bright new shop on Monday, September 1, in what used to be the Liquorland store.
Dollar Curtains is understood to be moving to the toy shop’s previous location while in the Plaza Jany Butta has opened a new lifestyle shop called Seaside Trader, next to the delicatessen.
At Hylands Corner, Captain John’s Restaurant has changed hands and opened on Saturday night after renovations.
And in Pambula the Top Pub changed hands and the new owners have put managers in to run it, Greg and Sonya Acret. Greg told the News Weekly that there were plans for substantial internal renovations to the pub particularly to the restaurant area.
