Members of the Royal Australian Air Force No. 2 Squadron were at Short Point, Merimbula, on Tuesday, May 20 creating interest for locals walking their dogs out to the point.

Members of No. 2 Squadron had set up an aerial and antenna at the point and the News Weekly was told that this was for communications testing to a jet flying over the water.
The squadron currently operates from RAAF Base Williamtown, near Newcastle, and has operated a variety of aircraft types including fighters, bombers, and Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C).
