Beck said that she was “extremely honoured” to be the ambassador and she strongly encouraged the whole community to participate or support the event.
Beck said: “As a cancer survivor, and as a person who has lost numerous family and friends to cancer, I am deeply moved by Relay for Life and the generosity of those who support it.
“We have all been touched by cancer in some way and this is an opportunity to raise vital funds for research and services in our area.
“The committee (all volunteers) have worked tirelessly to ensure this will be a wonderful family friendly event, with plenty of live entertainment and activities for people of all ages. There are inspirational and moving ceremonies throughout the event, giving participants the opportunity to remember those they have lost, encourage those who are currently battling, celebrate survivorship and encourage hope for a cure. Cancer awareness and prevention is a pivotal message of the Relay for Life,” Beck said.
Bega Valley’s Relay for Life will be held on the weekend of April 5 and 6 at the Pambula Sports Complex. For further details contact Sarah Flynn from the Cancer Council on 6492 1805 or sarahf@nswcc.org.au or Google Bega Valley Relay for Life 2014 to donate or to create or join a team.
