After battling out for over eight months, the Champions of Boorowa darts will be crowned tonight when the grand finals of all three grades take place at the Ram and Stallion Hotel. Three more teams were eliminated last Thursday in what were very tight preliminary finals. Play tonight will get underway at 7.30pm for all those who want to see just who the champions will be. Here are the results of the preliminary final matches from last Thursday: The RAMZ side played the Top Pub Silver Foxes at the Rec Club and in a minor upset the wily old Foxes won a thriller by 4/3, decided in the last singles match. The Ramz went up early, winning the team's event before the foxes struck back, winning both doubles matches to go up 2-1. The Ramz took two of the next three singles matches to make it 3-3 but Dennis Watson took out the final singles for the Foxes, who advanced to their second grand final in three seasons. This week the Rec Blue side play the Silver Foxes for the title of A Grade Champions in what should be a close encounter. It's hard to see the Rec Club losing this one but the unpredictable Silver Foxes could surprise the Rec if they bring their A Game. The preliminary final in this grade saw the Rec Club Miz Fits play the Mad Rams. The Rams, who were down on troops, fought valiantly but were beaten on the night 4/2. There were some great darts thrown here again and this result means a replay of the Major Semi Final with the Rec Miz Fits to play the Top Pub Leprechauns for the title. These two sides finished the regular season first and second in their grade. It's very difficult to pick a winner here, but the Miz Fitz should get home in a close one. The Ex-Services 26's hosted the RSL side in a local derby at the Ex-Services club. The dream ended for the RSL side, going down 4-3 to the 26's in a very hard-fought encounter, decided in the last game of the night (the team's event). It wasn't all one-way traffic though: the 26's went up early 2-0 but the RSL fought back to lead 3-2, before 26's regained control in the last two events. The 26's will play off for honours in a rematch of the Major Semi against the Top Pub Shamrocks, the two teams also first and second in their grade during the regular season. It should be close, as all grand finals ought to be, with the 26's tipped to win what could be a mid-night thriller. Tonight's Grand Finals are as follows and will all be played at the Ram and Stallion Hotel. For those wanting to play on after this week, the Annual Frank Apps Memorial Trophy for under 50s and over 50s competition will be held at the Rec Club from 7.30 pm on the November 28. $5 entry fee, good prizes and all money raised going to charity. The awards night is to be held on the Friday, December 6 at the Ex-Services Club, from 8pm onwards (after their raffle draw).
