A collection of allegedly stolen cars with a combined value of $20 million was seized by police in an operation aimed at stripping organised criminal networks of vehicles used in violent offences.

Police arrested 20 people allegedly involved in stealing 27 cars, from Porsches to Ford Rangers, across metropolitan Sydney and providing the vehicles to criminal networks.
Detective chief superintendent Jason Weinstein said NSW Police was "actively working" to prevent future violent crimes.
"That includes the seizure of what are becoming known as 'kill cars', cars we will allege were stolen for the purpose of use in carrying out violent crimes across Sydney," he said.
"We know that cars are critical in organised criminal operations and that's why we're targeting them so fervently."
Police said some seized cars contained jerry cans of fuel that "suggests the cars were lying in wait" for use in homicides or firearm violence.

Among those arrested was a 31-year-old man charged with 11 offences including two counts of aggravated break and enter and five counts of stealing a vehicle.
He will appear before the Penrith Local court on January 19, 2024.
