Donated by a knitting group in Canberra, the hands arrived at the end of July in time for the planned events.
The festival started in 2019 and included craft demonstrations, food and music, historic machinery and children's activities but it was the yarn bombing that captured the imagination of so many community members who decorated various parts of the town.
Secretary at the Old School Museum and event organiser Shirley Bazley said it was hoped that the festival could be rescheduled for later in the year but "that will depend on the state of the nation in regard to the pandemic". The festival was cancelled last year due to COVID. See merimbulahistoricalsociety.org.au for information about the museum.
