Strong momentum through the middle again proved pivotal in the result that has elevated the 'Doggies to the top of the competition table.
It's a rare feat in the top grade for the props to be scoring points, and an even bigger feat to do it against one of Group 16's largest and toughest opponents, but McGuire broke the mould to find the chalk twice on Sunday to guide the result.
A further boost to the Dogs is that despite holding an advantage over the Narooma Devils on for and against alone, the Bulldogs still have a game up their sleeve with a wet weather catch-up clash to take place against the Moruya Sharks this week.
Win or lose that draw, the Bulldogs will hold an unassailable dominance on the competition until at least July 25 when just two rounds will remain in the regular season.
Captain-coach Daniel Cronk said earlier this season that he did not want to emulate past Bulldogs coaches who had seen the club rise to some top three finishes in the season, but forge his own path and it appears he has done it with the Bulldogs now looking every bit a grand finalist in the last few weeks of the draw.
Cronk carded his own try on the weekend alongside Tom Grant, while Jake Mikula neatly slotted a few conversion options, giving the Bulldogs depth in their kicking options alongside half Corey Schafer.
The Stallions weren't without teeth on the weekend, pulling back a few tries of their own, while Astin Nunan, slotted all three conversion attempts for the home club including adding the two to his own four-pointer.
In other winter codes over the weekend, the Merimbula Grasshoppers enjoyed a 3-0 first grade win over the Wolumla Tigers in the FSC Football Association draw.
In the earlier reserve grade clash, the Grasshoppers and Eden Killer Whales both peppered kicks on goal, but neither could convert in greasy and slippery conditions on the soggy Berrambool ground as the clubs battled out a tense 0-0 draw.
Bega's reserve grade continued their form with a 3-0 win over the Penguins at George Griffin Oval.
In women's clashes, the Grasshoppers were soundly defeated by the Eden Killer Whales with a 6-1 scoreline, while the Penguins suffered a narrow 4-3 loss at the hands of the Bega-Tathra combine.
In Sapphire Coast AFL, the Merimbula Diggers pulled off a great upset result over the competition leading Panthers with a 9-6-60 to 8-5-83 win on Saturday.
Will Regan led the charge with four majors to his name.
The Wyndham Wedgies had a tough contest with the Bega Bombers, going down 12-5-77 to 7-5-47.
Merimbula's reserves suffered a convincing loss to Eden.
