A citizenship ceremony was held at the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre on April 26.
The ceremony was rich in diversity with our newest citizens coming from a range of different origins including: Bangladesh, Britain, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, India, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, United Kingdom and the United States.
Much like the Australia Day citizenship ceremony, citizens were presented with a Certificate of Australian Citizenship in front of family members and friends.
Bega Valley Shire Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick was there on the day to congratulate the newest citizens of the Bega Valley on behalf of the local community.
He wished them well as they start their new lives as Australians.
"Australian citizenship is something to be valued and celebrated, and today is a moment in the lives of our newest citizens to be remembered with honour and enjoyment," Cr Fitzpatrick said.
