Managing director of the Canberra-based company, Hucove, Liam Vernon said they hope to start clearing the land by March and in a matter of months would need up to 21 people.
But it's not just tiny homes that the company would make. The aim is to reuse shipping containers to convert them into accommodation, water tanks, cafés, bars, shops, worksite offices, bathroom facilities, workshops, recovery pods, fire bunkers, classrooms and medical facilities.
"Everything would be designed and manufactured in South Pambula," Mr Vernon said.
"We want to help grow the area and want to set up something that will put back into the community; we're here for the long-term."
The shipping containers are cleaned and resprayed and fitted out according to requirements.
A basic bedsit design costs $55,000 plus GST which Mr Vernon says comes ready to be connected to services and doesn't require a slab.
"There's a massive need for affordable homes," he added.
There has been a lot of talk about affordable housing in the shire as well as discussion on the issues around getting temporary homes for those who lost their homes in the bushfires. The Social Justice Advocates have been desperately sourcing caravans to try and help those impacted by the bushfires.
Mr Vernon said they also have plans for large portable water tanks which could be moved into place at a temporary location and connected to a tiny home or pod.
The company has been talking with council, local businesses and community organisations.
They also plan to have training facilities to provide a wide range of skills including a social enterprise element to assist those finding it difficult to get back into the workforce.
Mr Vernon has encouraged anyone looking for employment, wanting to share ideas or partner with them to contact him at hello@hucove.com.au.
