Like so many impacted by COVID-19, it has taken a while for the Bega Gun Club to be able to return to action.
Officials said due to summer bushfires and the following lockdowns, the club held just its second meet for the year last week after a practice session in September.
Despite the delays to the season, organisers said October turned some spectacular weather for the field of 35 shooters who turned out for the day.
A special welcome back to the south of the border lot.
The club put on the 100 target Tarraganda Open Championship for those present, which is shot over four rounds of 25 targets each.
After round one, five AA graders and four A graders finished with a clean sheet.
The second round provided a clearer result with Chris Davies the sole shooter still holding on without a missed target.
However, officials said the scores were nearly inseparable even after the third round with plenty of potential winners in each grade still hunting the championship sashes.
Good scoring continued into the last set of the day with a 25-target double barrel continental providing four shooters with a clean sheet to finish off a great day of competition.
The 2020 Tarraganda Champion went to Chris Davis after all the scores were tallied up with a superb round of 146/150.
AA Grade went to Phil Body just one point shy of Davis on 145/150, with Jeremy Freeman scoring 138/150 for the runner-up slot.
Steve McIntyre picked up 144/150 to win A grade from Yilmez Neziz on 141/150.
In B Grade, Philip (Zip) Summerell scored 135/150 to beat Bert Deacon by just a single shot on 134/150.
In C grade the win went to George Adamopolous after he collected 123/150 to win from Christel Feldmann on 114/150.
In the veteran class, Rodney Bresnan was the top finisher with a neat 140/150 to claim the sash, while Lauren Love nabbed the ladies title with 131/150.
Blake Grubber was named the junior winner after he pressured some of the best well with a strong 140/150 finish.
Officials thanked everyone who took part and said they were excited to see regular competition days returning with details to be published.
