As we now start to plan for a new way of enjoying holidays - close to home at least for the time being - our weekly travel section Explore returns in print.
Our edition this Saturday will have you walking on sunshine at the Sunshine Coast, an idyllic part of Queensland whether you choose to roam the hinterland, play along pristine beaches or spend time doing both.
Further south, on the mid-north coast of NSW, we tell you how to make the most of a stop in picturesque Port Stephens. Sure, this part of the world is known as the Humpback Highway and visitors at this time of year will want to catch a glimpse of whales travelling north to their calving grounds. But there are other attractions to keep you occupied.
In between both destinations, you'll find the Gondwana rainforests, one of the most bio-diverse regions left on Earth. The region, stretching between the Gold Coast and Byron Bay, is also home to some wonderful towns with artisan bakeries, silversmiths and clothes designers.
And, regardless of where you live and how far you can go at the moment, you'll want to read our state-by-state guide to travel restrictions and other warnings, as well as what insurance is available for holiday-makers.
We might be limited by COVID-19 but we can still dream of exploring. Rekindle your wanderlust in Explore this weekend, in the Saturday editions of these daily newspapers:
- Canberra Times
- Newcastle Herald
- Illawarra Mercury
- Northern Daily Leader, Tamworth
- Central Western Daily, Orange
- Western Advocate, Bathurst
- Dubbo Daily Liberal
- Wagga Daily Advertiser
- Launceston Examiner
- Burnie Advocate
- Border Mail
- Bendigo Advertiser
- Ballarat Courier
- Warrnambool Standard
