Yarnnie (John Drakopoulos) and Mad Dog (Gary Morley) started their talkback show, Brekkie with the Boys on November 5 from 6.30-9am and if you have an opinion, they’re keen to hear it.
“If you’ve got issue, give us a call and tell us about it,” Yarnnie said.
“We don’t touch religion but are quite happy with some local politics. It’s a wake up session on Monday and Wednesday and basically a couple of guys having some fun,” he added.
The station has been running since 2015 and it was last year when they started discussing the idea of having a talkback session.
“It wasn’t easy getting the phone system hooked up. It’s about getting the phone married to the broadcast console,” Yarnnie said.
At the moment they can speak with one person on the phone but have plans to get a link bank which will allow three or four people to be part of a conversation.
“It’s all about finances,” Yarnnie said. The Bendigo Bank has given the station money towards its production studio which is expected to be operational next year.
“This will give us the option to do live recordings, radio plays and we will be able to mic from the studio. We’ve got a new console coming in which will be a recorder too which means we can do pre-recorded stuff,” he added.
But it’s not just about being in the studio. Last year they went out to broadcast from the Merimbula Classic surfing sport event.
“We’ll be back again this year broadcasting live and doing some interviews,” Yarnnie said.
In the meantime if you have something on your mind and want to share it, give Yarnnie and Mad Dog a call on Monday or Wednesday, 6.30-9am on the talk back number 6495 7975. You can tune in to Sapphire FM on 97.5FM.
