The 14-year-old batted at six for the club, notching up 17 runs not-out off 20 balls in a good outing, that included taking a wicket from a nice catch.
Despite the effort, Queanbeyan proved too strong by three wickets.
Club batsman John Rogers said it was a good opportunity for the young gun, who had been showing well in the seconds.
"He’s a young bloke from the coast, from the same area as Mac Wright. He seems like a really good young fellow, he had a really good game in twos last week," Rogers said.
"We’ve obviously been decimated by a wedding and country championships this week so he gets an opportunity in the ones.”
Wright had become a beacon for the club before the national stage scooped him up, and Zak is showing good signs of following in his footsteps, but Rogers said there is definitely a bright future at Weston Creek.
"It’s probably a little bit of a looking glass into the future into a few years down the track when the core of the Weston Creek team that has been for the last few years gets a bit older and decides to stop playing.
"I’m actually excited for these young blokes to step up and do the business.”
Proud dad Grant Keogh said Zak had been working hard to establish himself in the Canberra competition with his son also named in the under 15 State Challenge.
He will be the sole Far South Coast representative in the squad with just three other players named from the greater ACT/Southern area.
In other representative news, Bobby McAlpin shone with the bat in the under 12s fixture for FSC against the ACT, slogging out the full 40-overs to finish not-out on 88 runs as the team clocked up 171.
He had some good support, but the ACT were able to bounce back to win on 172.
In the under 19s competition, Bega’s Jack Allen and Merimbula’s Tom Kellar set up a win for the South East over the ACT-East.
