The Nethercote Residents Association has a great night planned with music from Paul Dion and the Sapphire Coast Dance Band, food from A Pinch of Yum, tea and coffee and BYO refreshments.
The idea is to celebrate the 10 years since the hall’s reopening, which was down to the hard work of a dedicated group of local residents and to raise funds for further work on the hall, organiser Carol Ahern said..
Nethercote Hall serves as a focal point for the community with seasonal produce markets, Music Factory evenings and occasional concerts as well as being a function venue.
The event will be an evening for dancing with music provided by Nethercote local Paul Dion and the Sapphire Coast Dance Band while Ms Ahern promises “a sumptuous food spread” by caterers A Pinch of Yum.
Mr Dion said the music would start during dinner. “Once dinner is finished tables will be pushed back to free up the floor for some serious dancing to our eight-piece dance band,” he said.
“This is a great hall and we’re really looking forward to playing there and having a great night with everyone,” he added.
Ms Ahern said the fundraiser would help raise money for a planned deck.
The Nethercote Community Hall was originally built by the Nethercote Progress Association in 1910 from funds raised by the local community. Over the years the hall fell into disrepair but in 1996 there was a lot of interest in seeing the hall rebuilt in the original style.
Over the following 12 years more than $60,000 was raised by the community and $38,000 was received from the federal government. Nearly all the work was carried out by volunteers.
Ms Ahern said it would be a special evening. Tickets for the event on Saturday, October 13, starting at 6.30pm, include dinner, music, tea and coffee, BYO drinks, cost $45 at the door or $40 for tickets purchased before.
