Councillor Sharon Tapscott has welcomed news of a feasibility study into a rail link between Canberra and Eden calling it a great move.

“I believe Australia will become more and more reliant on rail. This is very positive for our area.
“It’s the only thing missing; we have a port and and airport. It’s a step in the right direction for sustainability,” Cr Tapscott said.
She also believes that a rail link would not only offer improved freight movement around the south eastern corner of the country but could ultimately offer special passenger experiences “like The Ghan”.
“This would activate the southern end of the port and would mean no little towns would be impacted by trucks,” Cr Tapscott said.
