With International Beer Day on August 3 and International Oyster Day on August 5, the opportunity to marry the two ideas seemed to be too good an opportunity to miss.

Jacqui Smith, owner of Wheeler's Seafood Restaurant, has joined forces with neighbouring brew crew at Pambula’s Longstocking Brewery, for a pop-up collaboration from 3-6pm over the three days from 3-5 August.

While the history of International Oyster Day is unknown, the history of oysters as an important food source is significant with evidence around the coast dating back many thousands of years, long before of oyster farming started in Europe under the Romans.

Locals and visitors can cast their vote on which Longstocking beer makes the ideal accompaniment to Wheeler's Merimbula Lake oysters with the favourite staying on as beer of the month at Wheeler's.
