Originally Marine Rescue Merimbula applied for a $300 grant to go towards a barbecue to cook meals at their fundraising events.
But the team was “amazed and delighted” to be awarded with one of the major grants, Fay Cousin from Marine Rescue Merimbula’s PR team said this week.
“Not only does this grant allow us to purchase the BBQ we wished for, but we can also now upgrade our medical and first aid equipment for onboard our rescue vessel MB30,” she said.
“MRM wish to thank all members of the public who voted for us.
“It is great to be acknowledged in this way and shows how appreciated Marine Rescue Merimbula is by our community.”
Marine Rescue Merimbula is a not-for-profit volunteer emergency service and is a unit of Marine Rescue NSW, the state's official volunteer marine search and rescue service.
