The duo, who are both members of the Sapphire Coast Boardriders and competitive young wave riders, travelled to Kiama on Sunday to compete in the Ocean and Earth Junior South Coast NSW regional titles.
Both surfed well in very tough conditions with even tougher competition in their highly competitive age groups.
Unfortunately, Harry Fergusson, 16, who surfed in the under 18s boys division, was unlucky on the day to miss a spot in the finals despite some excellent surfing in fiercely competitive heats.
Meanwhile, Arabella, 14, also met some fierce competition on the waves, but was thrilled to come runner-up in the tightly contested under 16s girls age category.
A spokeswoman said the final was “an absolute thriller and every surfer was busy until the final siren and every wave was crucial to the overall result”.
The result means that Arabella has again qualified for the Ocean and Earth NSW Junior Shortboard State Titles.
The State titles are a hotly contested round against some of the best where just the top five male competitors and only the top two girls qualify and compete against the best in NSW to make the nationals.
Harry had also qualified for the titles last year and was disappointed to miss out on the chance this year.
The State Titles this year will be held over five days in Coffs Harbour in July.
Arabella hopes to progress on her placing at the State Titles last year in Port Macquarie.
