Over 40 ladies attended the day, some placing bets on horses and others sitting back to relax and have a chat over lunch prepared by the Tathra Lions Club.
View Club member Anne Pearson said the day was “very successful financially.”
The Merimbula View Club sponsors four students through The Smith Family Learning for Life program. Ms Pearson thanked local businesses for their donations as raffle prizes.
“We will have no troubles paying sponsorship for our students next year,” she said.
“The six raffle prizes were fantastic, Discount Chemist provided a hamper of toiletries and an elderly elderly lady won a lovely crocheted rug,” Ms Pearson said.
Up and coming on the Merimbula Day View Club agenda is a visit to Cambodia as members and guests hear Bega High School teacher Denise Perry talk about the projects undertaken by Bega High students.
The meeting will be in the Lantern Function room at Merimbula RSL Club at 11.30am for a 12pm lunch on Friday, May 11.
Bookings or cancellations can be made by phoning Iris Ballard on 0448840752 by Wednesday, May 9.
Also, a reminder that the Tai Chi session being run by Val Currie starts at 10.30am before the meeting in the children’s play room. No special dress is required and a gold coin donation will go to club funds.
This month’s brunch will be held 11.30am at The Settlers Cottage, Princes Highway Pambula at a cost of $10 on Thursday, May 17. Anyone who would like to attend this informal brunch should contact Helen Cook on 0431142770.
Members please note that at the request of the RSL club, the date for the June meeting has been changed from June 8 to June 15. Look forward to the July meeting where there will be a ‘make it, bake it, sew it, grow it’ table.
