Hospital Auxiliary
The Pambula Hospital Auxiliary has been invited by Royal Willows Hotel to continue with the Friday raffles at 4.30pm for the month of April. The auxiliary is very appreciative of this support as a fundraiser. Shoppers at Pambula Food Works can support the auxiliary. Ask staff how you can make a donation. PHA is having a trivia night at the Pambula Merimbula Golf Club on May 3. It is time to get your friends together for an awesome night of fun. More information will be advertised. The next meeting of the Merimbula-Imlay Historical Society will be on Monday, March 26, at 2pm at the RSL. Andrew McManus will display a Dutch plate celebrating the liberation of the Netherlands in 1945. Andrew will talk about the significance of the plate and its place in Dutch history.
Parkinson Group
The members of the Bega Valley Parkinson Support group who attended the March meeting were given an excellent presentation by Sharon Bowen Smith, manager of Grand Pacific Health mental health recovery services. Sharon's presentation was both informative and thought provoking.
The group will be holding their 10-year anniversary lunch at the Pambula Merimbula Golf Club on March 26. A number of guests will be flying in from Sydney and Melburne to join the members of the group. Among them will be Jo-Anne Reeves CEO Parkinson NSW. There will be no meeting in April but the members will meet at Oaklands Pambula on April 23 for a bonding lunch.
Parkinsons NSW hold an annual Christmas appeal for funding for seminars in remote areas of the state. In 2017 president Bob McDonald was the face of Parkinsons and his story was used in the appeal which raised over $50,000.
The president would like to thank the local newspapers for their continued support over the past 10 years.
Garden Club
Merimbula Garden Club members discovered many interesting plants and unusual flowers when they visited Des Whitby's garden in Pambula last week. Des also lovingly cares for the roundabout gardens in Pambula, and the plants and shrubs on the corner around his property.
Many cuttings and plants were given to club members and Des received a thank you gift for hosting the day in his beautiful garden. Members meet again this Saturday, March 24 in the Merimbula RSL from 10am, with the guest speaker's topic being bromeleads, and visitors are very welcome.
