Brickfest was a hit, LEGO lovers everywhere

Impressive displays were set up around the room, as well as a giant table with thousands of Lego pieces for visitors to try their hand at creating a masterpiece of their own.

Lego users from Canberra, Newcastle, Sydney, Muswellbrook, Albury and Tathra transported their Lego displays from an exhibition in Melbourne to Club Sapphire on 23 and 24 January.

On the exhibition’s opening day there were 50 people waiting to bust through the doors. 

Rotary member and Brickfest organiser Janet Brandon said she was shocked by how many people were waiting at 10am before the doors to the Sapphire Club opened. 

“We were just thrilled by the number of people waiting at the door,

“It really showed how families are keen and interested in finding things to do,” Ms Brandon said.

Lego creators and experts stood by their displays offering tips and information about their world of Lego.

Amanda Dakos from the Albury Wodonga Lego user group had created an amazing modular Lego display with aftermarket lighting she had incorporated into the design.

“We are booked in to come back next year, hopefully it will be even bigger and better,” Ms Dakos said.

Rotarian's from several locations came to help out at the event, as did members from the Lions Club and the Country Womens Association. 

“The service clubs look after each other, you wouldn't get clubs helping each other in the city – it’s just laughed at,” Ms Brandon said.

“Where as here it’s what you get in small towns with the bigger events,

“I am so grateful for the service clubs giving a hand because it is such a busy time of year,” she said.

Rotary Club of Pambula has split the proceeds of the ticket sales between the Police and Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) and the Carers Accommodation Project (CCASE) at the South East Regional Hospital.

“A special thanks to Club Sapphire for being so supportive and putting this on as well as McDonald’s Merimbula,” Ms Brandon said.
