Almost 100 registrations were recorded as families from across the district enjoyed the free barbecue and social catch up.
Branch surf sports director Andrew Holt said there were still another 15 to 20 families willing to join as summer approached.
“We’ve got families from Jindabyne and Cooma who will sign up, as well as families from Candelo, Eden and Wolumla,” Holt said.
“We’ve had heaps of new families join the club and families that have come back after two years being away.”
Holt said the national reputation of the Nippers program was one reason behind the strong registrations.
“Surf safety is another important factor, as well as beach awareness and just being able to do healthy fun activities through the club,” he said.
Families still willing to join the Nippers program can do so on Sunday, October 22, from 10am at the annual Nippers pool swim at the Sapphire Aquatic Centre in Pambula where Nippers will have their swimming abilities assessed.
