Herry Fergusson, Flinders McKinnon and Arabella Tarpey travelled to Kiama last Sunday where they took on some of NSW’s best surfers at the Ocean & Earth Junior South Coast NSW Regional Titles.
Club officials said all three young guns competed well in competition beyond their years.
Flinders, 13, was unlucky to not place, but showed some excellent surfing during the heats as he took on the under 16s boys class, which officials said was fiercely competitive.
Meanwhile, Harry and Arabella have both qualified for the Ocean & Earth NSW Shortboard State Titles on the back of strong results.
Harry, 15, finished fourth overall in the under 18s division, while Arabella, 13, was able to clinch the under 16s girls’ crown in a nail-biting finish to the day.
The pair will take on the state event over five days in Port Macquarie in July.
Officials said this was a phenomenal result for the young Far South Coast surfers as just two girls per age group, and five boys per group, qualified to advance.
The pair are now hitting the waves back home at Merimbula and gearing up for the State event
Strong results at the state event could see them qualify for the nationals event to be held later this year.
