Some people write for pleasure, such as the family story or travel memoir that simply must be shared with others.
Some people want to see their short story, newspaper article, or novel in print.
Whatever muse you use, there are words that can motivate or inspire a reader, and there are words that do nothing but fill the page.
It's these 'nothing' words that Batemans Bay author Debbie Richardson is focusing on with her "Taboo Words" workshop to be held at Club Sapphire on Saturday, February 18 from 1.30pm.
Debbie will run through the list of 'taboo' words and provide activities to help writers convert words that readers skim into words that make a reader stay up all night to keep reading.
Great phrases are remembered because they're great. Debbie's tips and exercises will help get your readers to love your writing.
Hosted by the Writers of the Far South Coast, non members are welcome to attend.
The cost for the workshop is $15 for members, and $20 for non members, but non members need to show up a little earlier to register for the workshop.
Everyone can attend the morning writing clinic session for free, which starts at 10am.
Non members can also join the Writers of the Far South Coast on the day. Check out www.writersfsc.org.au or call 6448 9948 for more details.
