Mr and Mrs Page welcomed two boys and a girl into the world on Christmas day at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
All healthy and strong, Timothy Oliver-Flynn, Esther Elizabeth-Grace and Elijah John-Thomas joined five-year-old Thomas and eight-year-old Elizabeth in the Page clan.
Mr Page said they knew they were having triplets from very early on in the pregnancy, so the biggest shock was a Christmas day birth.
“The labour started to come on naturally and they were born through emergency caesarean,” Mr Page said.
“It is very common in these cases.”
More than a handful, the size of the triplets means Mrs Page will have to wait a little while before attempting to hold all at once.
“She hasn’t held all three at once and she will have to wait until they are a bit bigger,” he said.
Mrs Page spent the last ten weeks in accommodation at the hospital, while Mr Page and the two kids joined her four weeks ago.
“The Ronald McDonald house is fantastic and has been very supportive,” he said.
Mr Page said looking at three new born babies was a unique experience.
“It is a strange feeling looking at just one, let alone three,” he said.
“They can’t actually all fit into one room at the intensive care unity so they are separated in two rooms.”
Mr Page said his wife is doing well and is on the road to a “really good recovery”.
With the triplets in the intensive care unit, Mr Page said it was a “bit early to tell” when they would be okay to leave the hospital.
“It should be good but it takes time,” he said.
With a ‘show and tell to trump all show and tells’, Mr Page said the older siblings are “extremely excited” to welcome the trio into the family.
Timothy was born at 2.32 kilograms, Esther at 2.6 kilograms and Elijah at 2.63 kilograms.
