The four-day championship started on Thursday and will run through until Sunday at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.
Midway through day three, Dodt has an accumulative score of -12 and leads by two strokes from fellow Australian Ashley Hall (-10).
Queenslander Dodt took to the course at about 11am on Saturday for day three of the championship.
Australian champion Adam Scott has also started his day three round.
Heading into Saturday’s round, Scott sits in equal third position alongside New Zealand’s Ryan Fox with a score of -8.
According to the Australian PGA Championships website, there are more than 150 entries in this year’s event.
The championship has attracted golfers from across Australia and around the world.
The Australian PGA Championships action will continue on Saturday afternoon and conclude on Sunday.
